11/19/2008
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – November 19,
2008 – Esterline AVISTA, the U.S. leader in critical systems software
engineering services, has been invited to present at the second Workshop on CMMI High Maturity Measurement and Analysis. The event
is presented by the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Software Engineering
Measurement and Analysis (SEMA) team. SEI is a joint venture of Carnegie Mellon University and the Department of Defense to advanced
software engineering principles and practices.
One of Esterline
AVISTA's process improvement experts, Mark Kelley, is presenting a case study
on the cost of quality. Quality is important in software development, and
absolutely necessary with safety-critical software used in avionics, medical
devices or military systems. The presentation explores the links between early
project phase results and later phase results to understand the cost of quality
and the impact of quality on a project timeline. By predicting that a project
will require a specific number of engineering hours in later phases, teams can
plan ahead to bring on more resources to help ensure the project stays on
schedule, or adjust the processes to achieve the project objectives within the
given budget. Presentation details follow:
